GET READY TO ENTER THE PALACE

Welcome to the Buddhist Palace!

This site combines standard worldwide web technology with ThePalace.com™ visual chat software, and provides a rich visual environment, supported by textual explanation, for those desiring to learn about the religion of Buddhism. In many cases this will mean college students enrolled in traditional courses who will use this site as a special assignment, but all comers are free to participate; there is no charge.

This site, housed on the server at Matsushita Center for Electronic Learning (MCEL), Pacific University, in Forest Grove, Oregon, was developed in the Summer of 1999 through a generous grant from the Northwest Academic Computing Consortium.

Before you can enter this palace, there are certain preparations which must be made. The links on this page will provide everything you need to be ready to gain the most from your time in the palace. "The long way 'round is the short way home," and the Palace Masters believe you will find it beneficial to follow the steps according to numerical order. If you already have an active Palace™ client, you may of course skip steps 2 and 7. Alternatively, if you are simply searching for information you may scroll to the page bottom and click on the link taking you to the Library of the Buddhist Palace.
