Zen and You

by Layne S. Hashimoto

Zen is a branch of Buddhism. Like other Buddhists, followers of Zen believe that life means suffering. Happiness, sadness, and all other feelings are one and the same. The only way to overcome suffering is through non-attachment. This means giving up all desires and lusts. It is not an easy task. For many it requires years and years of meditation, and a search for self-understanding. However, for those who are able to reach this "enlightenment," life is free of suffering.
